Very happy to announce the publication of The Plain by photographer Melanie Friend, which is a visual journey onto Salisbury Plain, the largest military training area in the UK. My essay, Military-Pastoral Incursions is included in the book, and it was a pleasure working with Melanie on the project. Really glad to finally see this beautiful book in print. It's available from Dewi Lewis publishers and all the usual art bookshops. There is also an online launch in a few weeks which I will announce when the date is firmed up.
